Power Pose, Video Loop, 2021

For this video work I asked all the female* artists and curators involved in the exhibition to find a comfortable sitting position, to feel powerful for five minutes, film themselves while doing so and then start the day. I combined the footage into a video which was then shown at the exhibition. The viewer could sit down and rethink postures of power and gender roles while watching the artist’s power pose.

Since we could hardly meet beforehand to plan the exhibition, we’d zoom – but it wasn’t the same. I wanted to incorporate the process into the exhibition and send out these tasks – hoping they’d empower my fellow artists and curators in the process. (There are studies that prove that power posing actually improves your performance.)
